Hudson is the ideal place to unwind and relax, but for the active visitor there is plenty to do in, and around,
the area.
As well as The Links golf course, on which our villa resides, there are more than thirty other golf courses
within easy reach. There are several state parks in the area that offer swimming, hiking and biking. Canoeing
is also available in the Weeki Wachi River to the north.
Within a 10 minute drive you will find plenty of shops, restaurants and large outlets such as Walmart and
Target. On Interstate 19 to the south, the Gulf View Square Mall offers many shops and department stores. Also
on I-19 you will find a multi-screen cinema, bowling alleys and other attractions.
Hudson Beach, and the famous 'Sams Bar' is less than 10 minutes away, where you can see some stunning sunsets.
For fishing enthusiasts, there are many choices. Deep Sea trips can be arranged at Hudson Beach, as well as
many other places. There are fishing piers at Hudson Beach, Hernando Beach and many others for the best beach
fishing.
Within 40 minutes
The Greek fishing town of Tarpon Springs is about 25 minutes south, with its sponge docks and shops.
Famous beaches, such as Pine Island, Honeymoon Island, Caladesi Island and the beautiful white sands from
Clearwater down to St Petes Beach are all with 30 minutes.
Tampa, with its theme parks, arts complex and international airport is approximately
40 minutes away.
The area's major attraction is Busch Gardens - a thrilling theme park full of world-class
roller coasters and water rides plus zoological gardens and animal attractions. Next door, you will find
Adventure Island, a water park with many rides suitable for adults and children alike.
Travelling north you will find Weeki
Wachi Springs, home of the original Mermaid Show. This is about 20 minutes drive away.
Also heading north, you
can see manatees at Homasassa Springs Wildlife Park.
Within 90 minutes
Orlando, the theme park capital of the world, is just 90 minutes drive.
Here you will find Walt Disney World - a 27,000 acre property containing four major parks - The Magic Kingdom,
Epcot, MGM Studios and Animal Kingdom - plus two water parks, a night-time entertainment area, shopping areas,
golf courses, numerous expensive hotels, and much more.
Other major attractions in the Orlando area include the Sea World Adventure Park, with its thrilling rides and
fabulous marine animal shows, and Universal Orlando with its own two theme parks: Universal Studios Florida and
Islands of Adventure. |
